Our Work

Goat Cheese Factory Uganda

ESI is accompanying an innovative project run by a farmer in Uganda, keen to diversify his activities and add value to his goat herd through the production of goat cheese. Initially his goat herd consisted of around 1000 meat goats, but the farmer wanted to expand his activity and create a “milk production and cheese processing” activity by starting the project with over 1000 milk goats, selected for their ability to supply quality milk destined for the production of an exceptional cheese.

The 4 phases of the project
1. Feasibility study
ESi has mobilized its expert partners, agronomic engineers and veterinarians, to conduct an in-depth analysis of local and technical conditions in order to assess the viability of the project.
This study will define the infrastructure requirements and adaptations needed for local processing.
2. Fundraising
We assist the farmer in raising the funds needed to carry out the project. By identifying various sources of funding, partnerships, institutional aid and other mechanisms, we will ensure that the required financial resources are secured.
3. Production and processing
Setting up an optimized production chain is a crucial step. Our specialists will establish a herd management process, integrating best breeding and processing practices. This includes rigorous monitoring of sanitary quality and processing of milk into high-quality, artisanal goat cheese.
4. Value Chain and Sales
To ensure the commercial success of the project, ESI will be involved in the development of a complete value chain. We will identify and negotiate with potential partners and customers, particularly in organic and fair trade distribution. This approach aims to ensure efficient and profitable marketing of processed products.
